Here Comes Peter Cottontail

I am so so so happy that TODAY IS MY FRIDAY! This is super awesome guys, I need this, bad! I just love Easter, it's one of my favorite holidays. The pastel colors and the candy and fact that Jesus died for us, it's all so awesome, so I thought it'd be fun to share some old Easter pics today (and tell a hilarious Mitchell story).

Cute baby me and big creepy Easter bunny

Not sure about our faces here.. or Cory's outfit bahaha

Okay this isn't me, it's Kaylee, but how cute!

Aww I love Easter outfits

That was the coolest Troll Easter Bunny ever, I wish I still had it

This was just to embarrass Brian! hehehe

Funny story time: You know that song that goes "Here comes Peter Cottontail, hoppin' down the bunny trail..."

Well my Grandmom used to sing it all the time to us, and I guess Mitchell heard it from one of us, so one day when he was about 4 he was about to get in the bathtub and he starts hopping like a rabbit down the hallway naked singing (get ready for it, it's hilarious and awkward) "Here comes Peter Cottontail, look at my peenie wail." Well, umm at least he tried to make cottontail rhyme with  "wail"... I'm not kidding! We almost died trying not to laugh, but instead we pretended to not hear him so he wouldn't think it was funny hahaha! Anyways, on that inappropriate note, I will say Happy Easter and leave you with my favorite Easter-themed (ish) song!

Pros and Cons of Blogging (according to Mean Girl gifs)

The Pros

Developing awesome relationships with people all over the country.. people you've never even met in real life!

Blogging is a place to scream and shout and let it all out (now that I have that song stuck in my head) but seriously. Even if you don't always publish those posts, it's still nice to have an outlet where you can say whatever you want.

You can even make up words (I'm guilty of it), no one is gunna stop you.

via

Getting good feedback and compliments from strangers (or those awesome people from #1) rocks.

The Cons

It can be a time sucker. I'll get online to read a few blogs and bam! 3 hours passed! Plus when you can't think of something to write about, you can be sitting there looking at the screen FOR-EV-ER.

We all know there are mean girls out there, even in blog world. Seriously, why you gotta be so mean?

Having to keep it a secret from everyone in your real life, because they just don't understand (ya know, just like how Karen doesn't understand, well, anything).

***Update... I totally should have added this one this morning... Over the top fan girls.***

Blogland. Can't live in it, can't live without it. P.S. I totally got this idea from Kay's list of blog post ideas, thanks Kay!!

Strange But True Facts

... A weekend pedicure can do wonders for your spirit.. especially with a pretty light, Easter-y blue color! So does ordering furniture for your new house, love it!

... Your dogs will barely move the rest of the day weekend if you take them for a 2 mile walk.

... There are other options out there for me. This one's vague but one day it won't be, I swear!

... When your boyfriend is away, you will get to spend time in stores you rarely get to go into alone, i.e. Home Goods!

... Knowing you have Friday off is awesome, but it will probably make the week seem to go by slower. Who cares, having Friday off ROCKS!

... We close on our house in 38 days!! THIRTY EIGHT DAYS!

... Putting the dog food in a pretty tin can make you feel better about the $55 bag of food you just bought that doesn't even fill it 75% full!

... Watching Hallmark movies is an awesome way to spend an early Saturday evening.

... Having your windows open all day on Saturday will make your Sunday miserable, because ALLERGIES, duh. I don't even know what I was thinking doing that.

... The Bunny Cake candle from Yankee Candle smells amazing!

Okay okay okay, not all of these are actually strange facts, but I swear they're all true! Hope your Monday isn't too painful guys! By the way, does anyone know when the Bachelorette starts?

5 on Friday

1. I've been kinda down in the dumps lately. I have my reasons, but it still sucks. I hope this weekend will perk me back up. I think some shopping and maybe a pedicure are in order (not that I can wear flip flops for like another month, but at least my feet will look nice to me).

2. I wrote an entire post last night that I deleted. You know how Kelli's post the other day talked about how there are pieces of ourselves we don't share with the world, well that was pretty much why I pressed delete instead of publish. Felt good to type it all out though. Maybe one day.. hopefully soon.

3. Speaking of this weekend, I should probably get a jump start on packing for our move. We might actually be settling a week or so early (!!) and our weekends between now and then are packed. I'm talking Easter, two trips out of state, Earth Day festivals, etc. etc. I'm just having trouble thinking of what to start packing that we don't need right now... any ideas?!

4. I have been bad with my April Goals. Okay, not all bad, and not all my fault (I guess). I've been good with the food/calorie goal, pretty much because I feel crappy and am not really hungry (who even am I?!), but the exercise goal has just not happened. I've gone on a few walks, but my allergies have been so bad I cannot even step outside without feeling like I'm suffocating. However I really have no options left in terms of switching allergy medications, besides starting allergy shots, which are expensive, time-consuming, and take like 6 months to 2 years to start working. So that's not going to help right now. I know I could exercise inside.... but, no excuse. On a good note, I really haven't spent any extra money at all this month that wasn't in our budget!

5. I am going to leave you with this hilarious eCard... I love it so so much. Happy Friday guys

The Water Project

Guys, Elizabeth is one of my best blog friends and such a giving person, and so she is here today because she has an extremely important topic to talk about, and she needs our help! Take it away Elizabeth!

Hello lovely Pleas(e) and Carroters! I wanted to do a little takeover today to talk about water. What? Yep, water. Because: nearly 1 billion people in the world don't have access to safe water.

Crazy, right? In fact, it's hard to imagine being one of those 1 billion people when you live in a society with indoor plumbing and readily available convenience stores. But those people are there and they are suffering because water is the foundation of life.

 photo MedicalClinicinKenya_zpse357b302.jpg

As humans we can go around 30 days without eating food but we can only go around 3 days without drinking water. Now imagine that your 3 days are up and you have no choice but to drink the dirty and possibly disease ridden water that is miles away from your home. There are people in the world right now facing that harsh reality.

Those people spend their time focusing on survival rather than thriving in life. That's why clean water is so important. It gives them hope for a better future. Not convinced? Take a look at all the ways water can improve life:
  • You need clean water to wash your hands and limit the spread of diseases
  • Clean water means less diseases even to begin with
Water keeps sickness levels down and that means increased health for more active and productive lives.
  • Students miss school to fetch water for themselves and their family when it is miles away from their home.
  • Girls often drop out of school during puberty because schools don't have proper and safe latrines for them to use.
Water gives a community the possibility of increased education for boys and girls.
  • Access to readily available, clean water leads to healthier crops as well as more crops in a community.
Water helps stop unnecessary hunger for healthy bodies and minds.

 photo Kenya_NabongoPrimarySchool_zps427c1662.jpg

Access to safe water can vastly improve a community's quality of life. In turn that gives them hope for a better future where they don't have to focus on simply surviving every day. I consider it a pretty noble mission to try and help these communities regain their hope by providing them with the means and education to access clean water. That's what The Water Project is doing.

How does The Water Project help these communities?

The Water Project believes in people. They focus on working with in-country teams and partners that have long term commitments to the local communities. That means they aren't just building a well before leaving the area for good. They are committed to teaching those in the area how to be self-sufficient as well as checking back in to make sure everything is working. They put the needs of the communities first and let them be a part of building and implementing the water project. That leads to higher chances of long-term success.

How can you help The Water Project?

I started a campaign to support this organization in honor of my one year "blogiversary". I would be honored if you would help me reach my $500 goal! I plan on keeping the campaign going for a month. That means you can wait until the next paycheck to give whatever you can spare. I have a few incentives going on if you do decide to donate. I won't take up any more of Jessica's time though so hop over to my blog to check them out or go straight to the campaign to help give clean water!

Confessions

I confess... I never ever change the pin descriptions on Pinterest, no matter how stupid they sound.

I confess... I don't like hot tea. I have tried it so many ways and I've tried all different kinds, and nope, I just don't like it. I really want to but I don't.

I confess... I bug Brian for details on our engagement all the time, but he won't budge.. he's so secretive! #dontjudgeme

I confess... working full-time is much harder than going to school ever was, and I am still having a hard time adjusting.

I confess... I've watched Frozen at least 6 times since I bought it. Olaf is my fav, and I kinda want an Olaf stuffed animal. Does anyone know where I can get one of these?

I confess.. I am an impatient person. I can hardly stand to wait for noodles to boil, I can't handle sales phone calls, and I don't like being put on hold.

Brian confesses... he thought a Basket Bingo was called a Basket Bingo because they pull all the numbers for Bingo out of a Basket.. bahahahaha I almost died laughing when he said that!

Linking up with Kathy for Humpday Confessions today!

Weekend Randoms

So I had another pretty awesome weekend and decided I just had to share with you guys! Friday night started off with some excitement as we watched that jerky neighbor from this post get arrested. Yup, #karmasucks. Anyways, then Brian's parents came into town and took us out to our favorite restaurant to celebrate our new house!! I took no pictures because I suck.

Saturday morning I got my hair done and I'm rootless again, woop! Then I hightailed it over to our new house for our home inspection. It went well and I am super excited. I just love love love our new house! I am not going to share any pics though until we move in because I don't feel comfortable posting pictures of other people's stuff in the house. Then Brian and I went to lunch and looked at couches, then I layed around with an icepack on my head for a while because of course my allergies were killer. When I felt better, Bri and I had some Panera and then had a WalMart adventure. We got a lot of awesome stuff for our new house (like $10 throw pillows and $30 bar stools, unheard of!) but I would not venture in there on a Saturday night again, it's CRAZY! Nope, just no.

Btw that thing in the bottom right corner is a gallon size glass mason jar drink dispenser, it's awesome!

Sunday we went to Cracker Barrel (we ate like crap this weekend, I admit it) then I watched About Time again (I love that movie!) and then we went to a Cash Bingo for my sisters softball team. I just love me some bingo!

I hope your Monday doesn't suck! Here is a cute picture of my boys for Kelli's link up, hopefully it'll cheer you up because Mondays are the worst.

Would You Rather...

I know I say this every single week but TGIF!! I cannot wait for this weekend! Brian's parents are coming into town and taking us to our favorite local Italian restaurant for dinner, then tomorrow morning I have a hair appointment (thank goodness because my roots are scary) and then we have our home inspection. Cross your fingers for us! We are excited to get back in our new house again!

Anyways, Whitney did this Would You Rather quiz yesterday, so I figured I'd participate since it's fun and I don't have any good quotes this week for Wise Words of the Week. So, would you rather:

1. Lose all your mascaras, eyeliner, lipsticks, and lip glosses or all your palettes and eye-shadows? Definitely "all" of my palettes and eye shadows. I actually have no palettes and just a few eyeshadows, but I can't live without mascara and eyeliner!!

2. Chop off all of your hair now or never get your hair cut again? Chop it all off now. I could not live without getting a haircut ever again, I love that freshly cut feeling!

3. Have coral cheeks or pink cheeks? Pink! Coral looks awful on me.

4. If you had $1,000 to spend today, would you rather spend it all on clothes or all on makeup? All on clothes. I don't use enough makeup to spend $1,000.

5. Wear lipstick as eye-liner or eyeliner as lip gloss? Okay this question is super weird! I guess lipstick as eyeliner because putting eyeliner on my lips sounds so awful and ugly.. eww!

6. Only shop at MAC or Sephora? Definitely Sephora. We don't have a MAC around here, plus I can't wear MAC anyways. One time I used their mascara that everybody raves about and it made my eyes swell shut and water like crazy!

7. Wear 1 shade of eye shadow or 1 color lip gloss forever? One color lip gloss because I pretty much never wear it anyways so I don't really care.

8. Wear winter clothes in the summer or summer clothes in the winter? Hmm this is a hard one. I guess wear summer clothes in winter because you can always put more on to get warmer, but you can never take off enough clothes to get cooler, if that makes sense it probably doesn't, just go with it.
9. Wear dark-color nail polish or bright-color nail polish year round? Definitely bright! Who wants to wear dark colors, blah!

10. Give up lip gloss or nail polish? Lip gloss. Like I said I never wear it anyways, but my nails are pretty much never bare, because that's boring!!

Have a great weekend guys!!

A Day in My Life

Okay so lots of you crazies said you'd be interested in seeing a day in my life (okay, like two of you, but it makes me feel cooler to say lots of you), so here is my Thursday of last week:

7:00am- Brian's alarm goes off. He gets up, showers, kisses me goodbye, and leaves for work.

7:45am- My alarm goes off. Sometimes I'm already awake from when Brian left, but today I pretty much slept until the alarm. I put some baby powder in my hair, ignore the ginormous circles under my eyes (stupid allergies), and get dressed. I am not amused that it's already morning, as you can see from my face. Then I take out and feed the dogs then eat breakfast while I read blogs for about 20 minutes.

8:40am- Leave my precious little angel dogs alone all day so I can go to work. Actually someone in my family normally comes and takes them out for us during the day since they only live a minute away, but when we move we will be like 10 minutes away so the dogs will have to get used to holding it all day or peeing on the floor.

8:57am- Pull in the parking garage a few doors down from my office. I'm lucky to work only about 15-20 minutes away from work; poor Bri drives around 45 minutes each way! P.S. It was 28 degrees already by the time I got to work.. springtime is a-comin'! (sarcasm).

9:00am- Get in my office, check my email, figure out my schedule for the day, and do a little research on spam emails. Sorry I don't have any pictures of my office- I have too many client files laying all over my desk and chairs and floor and shelves and there's this big important thing called attorney-client confidentiality, so I don't feel comfortable posting pics... and therefore you get a picture of some pretty highlighters/pens.

9:30am- Put on my suit jacket and meet with a family law client before a settlement meeting with the opposing party and counsel from 10:00-11:30. Right now since I'm a newbie I get whatever work comes my way from the partners, but I actually share this case with the other associate at my firm. In case you're interested, I mostly practice family law, municipal law, real estate, and civil litigation.

11:30am- Frustratedly (is that a word? Prob not) try to figure out what the heck I wrote on one of my timesheets at the beginning of the month, then finish up my research from the morning. Exciting stuff.

12:00pm- Bundle up and walk to the awesome nearby market for lunch with a few co-workers. There are so many kinds of food there so you can never get bored. We do this every Tuesday and Thursday when the market is open. The other three days I pack my lunch. I forgot to take a picture but today I got grilled cheese and tomato soup, yummy!

1:00pm- Lunch time is over, wahh! I spend the rest of the day researching, making/taking phone calls, answering emails, meeting with partners whom I've done work for, drafting legal documents, etc. I wish the office had windows because sometimes those florescent lights make me TIRED, especially after lunch!

5:00pm- Time to go home! I make sure I recorded all my billable hours on my timesheet for the day (the bane of a lawyer's existence), then peace outta there. It's warmed up to 43 degrees, toasty! No seriously, that is actually pretty warm compared to Wednesday when it was 20 degrees and windy and snowy. I call my mom, then rock out to some Taylor and Britney on the way home.

5:17pm- Get home, clean up the mess from the kitchen towel that the dogs pulled down from the oven handle and peed on. Thanks guys dogs are great. Take the dogs outside, change into my sweats because there's no way I'm wearing dress pants and button up shirt all night, then feed the dogs, refill my water bottle, and read blogs/watch Veronica Mars on my Kindle Fire while I wait for Brian to get home with dinner! We probably order out/go out twice a week, and cook the other nights. I thought about putting away the large basket of clean clothes that has been spilling all over the floor since Sunday...

6:30pm- Brian gets home and we eat dinner and catch up.

7:00pm- Brian has a Devils game on TV, so he watches that while I keep watching Veronica Mars, do blog stuff, and search for stuff for our new house! Sometimes I'll throw in a bike ride on my stationary bike in there, but I am still feeling crappy from my sinus infection so I don't want to push it. I can't wait until it starts getting warmer out so we can go on nice long walks with the dogs! Also, when we move to our new house we will be closer to LA Fitness so I may rejoin so I can start going to Zumba classes again, which I LOVE!

10:00pm- Parenthood is on, so I'm watching that, duh.

11:00pm- Bed time! I usually like going to bed a little earlier but when I have shows on I have no choice but to stay up (okay, sometimes I DVR them but I didn't feel like it tonight).

So that's it, a day in my life. Sorry, it's not that exciting!! I hope all of you do one of these posts soon though because I love reading them!

April Goals

Alright guys, confession: you may have noticed I mysteriously skipped making March goals. Well there's no mystery... I simply sucked at my February goals, whatever they were, and I was too lazy to make March ones. What a bad attitude! So anyways I'm starting fresh because there are things that have to change! I am hovering around my highest weight ever, which sucks big time, especially since we have 4 weddings to go to in the next 5 months, as well as it being bathing suit and shorts season very soon (at least, I hope.. I think they're calling for snow AGAIN on Saturday so spring and summer may actually never come). Also, our spending and budget definitely need to get under control or else we will be out on the streets instead of in our brand new house come May 30th, so April goals, I am going to kick your butt!

Goal # 1: Get up at 7am every weekday and do the 30 Day Shred or 30 minutes on my bike before work, and go on 2 mile or longer walks per week. This is totally doable, I used to do it in law school and I would have more energy for the day when I exercised in the morning. Plus I feel super accomplished working out in the morning.

Goal # 2: Stick somewhat to a calorie goal. I am not going to be unrealistic about this because recording every last thing I eat is a pain in the butt, so I may not record everything I eat every day, but I know damn well how many calories are in things and I know what I need to eat to keep it under control.

Goal # 3: Follow the budget that Brian made. No extra purchases. Stick to the list of necessities we need to buy before we move into our house. No more maxi dresses and Easter decorations just for the heck of it.

As you can see I didn't set a weight goal for myself, though losing weight is something I definitely want and need to do. If I stick to the first 2 goals, then losing weight should happen, I'm just not going to put a number on it. What are your goals for April? P.S. Happy April Fools Day! I hope you did something tricky to someone today, and if not, what are you waiting for?!
