Short and Sweet

So I am back again, even though I said I wasn't going to be until next Thursday. Just a quick few things I wanted to share (this is going to be exciting people!):

Want to know who gets sick a week before the bar exam? Oh that'd be me.. Here's to medicine, Gatorade, and vegetable broth, since those are the only things I am apparently allowed to eat right now. You can't tell me this doesn't look delicious:

Thanks to me being a sickie, and our 3.5 year anniversary, Brian brought me these, aww:

Lastly, thanks to Erin and this awesome tutorial she recommended from Venus Trapped in Mars, I am no longer a no-reply blogger! Woop! Reply back to me all you want because I am ready for business.

Anyways, it's back to bed with my computer, highlighters, and outlines for me. Good thing is that in a week from now, I will be finishing up two full days of testing and these 2.5 months of h-e-double hockey sticks will be behind me, and hopefully I will never have to mention it again, ever! Then Brian and I will be going to our favorite place to eat in the whole world, Victors, and I will not be holding back! Veggie lasagna, fried mac and cheese, and this heavenly drink they make with elderflower liquor. Yum! Now for real, I will talk to you all next Thursday! Follow me on Twitter and Instagram if you want to see what I am up to before then (I'm sure you're all dying to hear!) This concludes the lamest post known to woman.

New Design!!

Ahh I am back real quick. Just wanted to test and show off my new blog design from Erin at Love, Fun, and Football. She was awesome to work with and was so so patient with how clueless I am! If you need a new blog design, definitely talk to her. She was so quick! And look at my button and links.. so cute!! Oh and check out the about me page I wrote up! I absolutely love my new design and cannot stop staring at it! Thanks again Erin!

Ennui (& the most boring weekend recap ever)

Ennui (ahn-wee), according to Michel, is a state of metaphysical angst. It is also defined as a feeling of utter weariness and discontent resulting from satiety or lack of interest. This is what studying all day every day for 2 months does to people. I am B-O-R-E-D and cannot wait for this to be over. In less than 2 weeks, we'll be at the lake!:

This weekend I did a little of this:

And A LOT of this! Blah! (notice Hansel curled up in his pig-shaped bed in the background in the first picture!). Also, when my feet are cold, Schnitzel likes to warm them up :-)

Anyways, this is my last post until after the bar, or else I will be turning it in looking like this:

Cya August 1st!

Strange But True Facts

Welcome to the first edition of Strange But True Facts, inspired by DJ Tanner:

If you are a Full House fanatic like I was am, you know that DJ was trying to get her own room in this episode, and one of the posters in her stack says "Strange But True Facts." Now, I am not trying to get my own room, but without further ado, here are some strange but true facts for your reading pleasure:

1) That nose-less cat thing in Egypt, ya know, the "sphinx", is actually spelled with "i" not a "y" (learned that the hard way in the county-wide 7th grade spelling bee. And no, I'm not  bitter about it, why would you ask? Oh, maybe because my grandfather still brings it up. I still feel like I'm going to hurl every time I see a picture of that thing)

2) Not everyone on Facebook is a legal expert, despite what you may have read (shocking, I know!).

3) All cars have a device near the steering wheel, some might call it a "blinker," that tells the people around it when he is turning or changing lanes.

4) There is a 99.9999% chance that once you get all comfortable in your bed, you WILL have to get up to pee.. it's scientifically proven (okay, not really, but c'mon, it's so true)

5) Mary Kate and Ashley are fraternal, not identical twins. Also, they were much more adorable when they were younger. Sorry, but dating men in their 40s and wearing fur ain't my cup o' tea (but I totally was obsessed when I was younger; even cut my hair in whatever style they had at the moment).

6) Triskaidekaphobia is the fear of the # 13. And I know that's how you spell it because when my sister was in elementary school, the teachers apparently thought it was a great idea to teach the kids how to spell it, so Savanna went around spelling it. ALL. THE. TIME.

7) No one, and I mean no one, was cute in middle school (and if by chance you were, please don't tell me. I want to revel in the fact that I was not alone with my gap teeth, greasy hair, tomboy pants, and green velvet short-sleeve shirt. And nope, I won't be posting a picture).

8) You know what they say about guys with big feet?.. They have stinkier shoes!

9) Cigarettes are made of 95% plastic. Umm, gross! This also means they don't break down for a LOOONG time. So when you throw one out your car window, expect it to be here for thousands of years. Yup. Unless someone's dog or child picks it up and eats it. Or it goes into the storm drain and into a nearby river or stream and a turtle or fish eats it and is killed by the chemicals in the cigarette. Read more about it here. Okay, stepping off my soapbox now!

10) And lastly, this one speaks for itself. So inappropriate, but every time I see it I just can't stop laughing!!

And that concludes today's round of Strange But True Facts!!

Dating Disasters: Dumping hot chocolate in my face, say what?!

Okay so this is my first link up! I found this link up on Erin from Two Thirds Hazel's blog (love her)! You are supposed to talk about anything dating-related, from dates from hell to how you met the man of your dreams. I will be talking about both!! Here are a few "low-lights" from my past college relationships:

  • The guy who told me I was "well-behaved" after we went to the beach one day (wait, what? Am I 5 years old? I promise I didn't normally "misbehave," geez)
  • The guy who told me he wanted to dump my hot chocolate in my face at Cracker Barrel, simply because I ordered it in July (it is freezing in there and I ordered it with my breakfast!)
  • The guy who cheated on me while I was away at school, with about 5 other girls.
  • And, saving the best for last, the guy who got a girl pregnant while we were broken up and didn't tell me about it until wayyyy after we got back together! This is also the guy who told me he was working and instead had a party, who got a DUI (ugh!) without telling me, and oh so much more. What a winner! He always came crawling back with a sob story and I fell for it like a dumdum lollipop!

As you can tell I dated some real winners in the past!! Thank God I found my amazing boyfriend of the past 3.5 years, Brian! We started living together a year ago, and I am just so lucky to have him! How we met is actually a pretty interesting story too:

Back in 2009 in my senior year college, Brian and I had a mutual friend named Kevin who was in one of my classes at York College. Brian went to Lehigh (about 2 hours away) and he is from NJ. My Dad's whole side of the family is also from NJ, and when we traveled up there for Thanksgiving as we do every year, Kevin asked if I wanted to come hang out with him and a few friends late Thanksgiving night. Brian was one of those friends!

Brian was the D.D. and when I got in his car, I immediately asked his middle name (it's Robert) and proceeded to call him Bobby (that nickname is what I called him for the first couple months of our relationship, and it is still in my phone!). On the way to the party, I was nauseous in the backseat of his car (I get really car sick, especially on windy roads-- I swear I had not been drinking yet). Brian was so sweet, and told me it was okay if I threw up in his car (don't worry, I didn't)! I thought that was just the nicest thing ever (even though he has since told me he would have totally thought that was gross). We started texting almost immediately after that weekend, and the rest is history! It's funny how that story has evolved though, because apparently Brian's cousins heard that the story was that Brian my holding my hair back when I was, how did his uncle put it, "overserved"... uhh what?!? NOT the story at all!

Anyways, here are a few of my fav pics of us:

Recipe: Greek Pizza!

So Greek Pizza is one of Brian and mine's favorite recipes because it is so good, so easy, and so so fast. We found the recipe somewhere online years ago (I cannot remember where), but we have changed it somewhat to simplify it. The directions are not exact at all (sorry!!) BUT they don't have to be; you can alter it however you want and you will still love it. Have fun!

**Preheat oven to 450 degrees.

**Assemble your ingredients:
  1. Pre-made crust (if you feel like making your own, more power to ya, but we tried that once and let's just say it was not pretty-- Also, I am trying to cut back on carbs so I used this thin one, but if you are good with carbs I would definitely get a thicker one to better hold toppings)
  2. Baby tomatoes (a cup or two chopped in half or quarters; you won't need more than one of those small containers-- we have a big one because we use them a lot)
  3. Feta cheese (one container will do, but you can use more if you like-- we loveeee feta in this house!)
  4. Cavender's All-purpose Greek seasoning (a must! We found it at Target, but if you can't find it, Amazon has a big shaker (8oz) at a decent price)
  5. Onions (probably less than a half of an onion- I am lazy and hate chopping onions so I just bought them pre-chopped and only needed less than a fourth of the container)
  6. Bag of spinach (you won't need the whole thing; just a few handfuls)

**Put the crust on your pizza stone (similar here) or cookie sheet and spread all of the feta cheese evenly on top, then follow with the tomatoes, onions, and a healthy sprinkling of Cavender's (save spinach for later).

It's okay if you make a mess while you're cooking, if you have trusty little vacuums like we have!

**Bake for about 10 minutes, or until the cheese is a teeny bit brown.

**Turn oven OFF!!

**Rip up a handful or two of spinach and spread it all over the top of the pizza. Wait a few minutes for the spinach to wilt, then cut into slices. It should look something like this:

**Enjoy!! Let me know how you like it! I promise it is WAY WAY more appetizing in person :-)

I Wanna Talk About Me...

So I haven't discussed yet why I decided to name this blog Pleas[e] and Carrots. It's not because I am in love with carrots (I actually haven't even eaten one in a few months, as they aren't best for dieting, so I hear). It's also not because this is going to be a health blog (it won't be). I mean, I might post some recipes here and there-- in fact, I plan on posting an awesome and EASY Greek Pizza recipe on here in the next few days!

So why did I name it Pleas[e] and Carrots? Because, when I want to get someone to do something they don't want to do, I try to cute it up and tack the words "pleeeeeease... and carrots" on the end of the request. I know, I am just so clever. However, after the eye rolls, it usually works!

I decided to play on words a little though (again, I am just so clever, ha!) and include my law background with Pleas (get it, like guilty plea..). Yea, so that was my thinking behind the name... anyyyyways

A few random facts about me:

  • I love snowballs.
  • I hate when people don't use their blinkers.
  • Also, tractor trailers in the left lane-- don't even get me started.
  • I really want a short haircut but I'm too scared.
  • I have to wear socks to bed (after putting lotion on my feet).
  • I'm a vegetarian and have been since I was 8 years old-- no, I will not push it on you (everyone makes their own choices) and no I do not want a bite of your burger, thanks anyways. If you want to know more about it, email me or leave a comment :-)
  • By and far my biggest pet peeve is people throwing their cigarette butts on the ground.. so disrespectful and THE WORLD IS NOT YOUR TRASH CAN!! (I definitely will be doing a post on this one day, don't fret)
  • I am not good at coming up with random facts about me, so anything you want to know, feel free to ask! Thanks for reading!
And since there were no pictures in this post, here's a pretty unedited picture from March when Brian and I went to the Dominican:

5 Things I'm Loving Now

So I sat at the car shop this morning for 2 hours (thanks PA for making me get an inspection and emissions test every year) and highlighted incessantly in my bar points book. Now, I think I deserve a short break after all that, so I present to you 5 of my favorite things at the present moment:

1) Sharpie tank highlighters. These babies have been my go-to all throughout law school, and I love them because they come in a variety pack or all pink (my fav), they are big enough to highlight an entire line of text (perfect for me, since I apparently have highlighter OCD and need each highlighted line to touch the next-- perfect rectangles, people!), and they last longer than the freebies I was getting at school from LexisNexis and Westlaw (though I still go through about a highlighter a week). Anyways, you can get them pretty cheap on Amazon here

2) LatisseI just started last week, and these are my BEFORE eyelashes (sorry for the creepy pic of my eye!). I have the smallest, lightest eyelashes known to man, and I decided to finally take the plunge after hearing so many good things about it. I will post a pic at 8 weeks and 16 weeks to show my results. Pray for long eyelashes! You need to go to an eye doctor, plastic surgeon, or some other type of skin care doctor to get this because it requires a prescription, and it isn't cheap, but the bottle apparently lasts like forever (like 8 months or something) so that's good. You can find out more info here

3) Mason jar cup. Brian bought me this cup for $10 at Target last week, and I absolutely love it and drink all of my drinks out of it now. LOVE LOVE LOVE

4) Gilmore Girls. I just love this show so much and I can't make a love list without including my fav show ever! I have all the seasons and watch them in my spare time start to finish, then I simply start over again with Season 1 right away. Yea, Brian (my boyfriend) loves it (that's sarcasm, my friends). Haha but he actually puts up with it pretty well.

"Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; begin it well and serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense."

5) Lastly, this isn't really a "thing," but I am trying to keep this quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson in mind everyday. Glennon from Momastery posted it on Facebook the other day, and it is such a good reminder. I even typed it up, framed it, and put it in our bedroom.

Thanks for reading!!

**These opinions are my own and are no way endorsed by any of the companies I mentioned-- I just love these things and wanted to share!!**

Follow me on Bloglovin!!

Follow my blog with Bloglovin

Thanks!!

Oops!

So oops, I started this blog then never came back. I have an excuse though, I swear. I was in my last semester of law school and I had finals and bar applications and graduation and bar prep to take care of. In fact, right now, I am putting off reviewing my answers from my MBE (basically the multiple choice part of the test- 1 of the 2 days). I take the bar in 2 weeks aahhh! I can't think about it too much or I panic.

So anyways, I was kind of watching The Bachelorette (does any else have trouble concentrating this season? Des is annoying boring!) and catching up on reading my blogs for the night, when I decided I should probably attempt to post on my blog! Plus, last night, my boyfriend Brian told me how I should start a blog and it got me thinking. So I am back. I will try to figure this thing out and maybe eventually get someone to make me a blog design. Brian even volunteered to take care of all my HTML stuff for me (whatever that even is). Tune in (yea I sound like a radio host from the 1940s with that saying but I don't know any blog lingo yet) tomorrow for a list of things I'm loving now, and maybe later this week I will even do a link-up!

Sorry for such a lame post. Maybe this picture of my miniature dachshund brothers Hansel and Schnitzel when they were puppies will make up for it?
