Working Girl Lessons

So today it has officially been one month since I started full-time, post-school, working life. I know I know, what do I reallyyyyy know about the real world yet? Well, let's see...

... I know that staring at a computer screen while in a room lit by florescent lights gives me migraines. Time to invest in some lamps.

... I know how fast evenings (and weekends) go. I feel like all I have time for at night is eating and sleeping before it's time to go back to work.

... I know that I miss my puppies during the day. They are doing pretty well with the change of me being gone all day now, I am so proud of how well they've adjusted to the new routine. They are extra snuggly at night now, too!

... I know how much it hurts making student loan payments. Owwwwww.

... I know that Google is the best tool ever invented. Enough said.

... I know that I am lucky to have an awesome job in this tough job market, lucky to have a steady paycheck, and lucky to live in a country and era that allows women to have professional jobs.

What do you know about the real world? P.S. Use code FROSTY for $1 off all ads now thru Friday night! Stock up, that means they're only $2 and $4 a pop! Keep warm, I know my hands pretty much feel like ice, thank goodness I'm not a doctor or nurse! haha

  1. Literally agree with every. single. thing. Except the puppies, because I don't have any. The student loans in particular. And the not having time in the evenings. It's torture.

  2. The real world is tough. Traffic sucks your life away so I hope your commute isn't too bad (polar vortex notwithstanding). My cat is SO snuggly each night that it is a nice perk, though! Congrats on being a working lawyer, lady - I know it doesn't come easy!

  3. Eek, Student loans are the WORST and it seems like they will be there FOREVER.
I totally miss my dog (A LOT) when I'm at work. Sometimes, when I'm having a bad day, I stare at photos of him on my phone. haha

  4. It is so hard managing time once you start working. Glad you (and your pups) seem to be adjusting so well!

  6. I know that if you work hard you'll be given more work than anyone else, not fair but it's going to happen.

  7. The real world sucks. Why were we all in such a rush to become adults is beyond me! Paying for someone to stay sucks, utility bills suck, car payments are rough, student loans are painful...ouch! But then the weekend comes and for 2 days you forget how much being an adult sucks sometimes. :)

  8. Why do we have to grow up!? I dont wanna work in the real world.

I told my boss that instead of florescent bulbs they should replace one or two with tannin bulbs.

  10. Girl. Student loan payments are pretty much the devil. Florescent lights are the worst. And there really should be a nap time in the real world.

  11. I am NOT looking forward to student loan payments. Are you liking your job aside from the florescent lights.

  12. I miss Johnny Cakes SO bad during the day! Like, I start to get so excited I could burst the closer I get to home at the end of the day. I scroll through his pictures on my phone to tide me over. It's pathetic.

  14. YES to all of these. It's crazy how fast the evenings seem to go and how slow the time at your desk seems to go. For the staring at computers all day, I sometimes find things I can do off the computer like brainstorm or write to-do lists just to give my eyes a break.
