November Goals

Hope everyone had a great Halloween! We handed out candy to only like 12 kids so we have tons left, which is great sucks for me because I will now proceed to eat it all. So umm is it seriously November today?? Love it!! Okay so I think October went a little bit better in terms of my goals. Let's recap:

1) Lose 10 pounds- okay didn't happen. But I didn't gain anything. I shouldn't have picked so ambitious a goal during a month with candy and pumpkin/apple themed desserts, especially with my sweet tooth!

2) Get a job- didn't happen either, but I sent out a bajillion resumes/cover letters, I've done a little bit of contract work, and now that I am a licensed attorney (!!!!) it should hopefully be easier to get a job of my dreams.

3) Purge my closet- Ding ding ding! We have a winner! Mine and Brian's closet and drawers are cleaned and organized and it feels so good!

So I only accomplished one goal in October, let's hope November goes a little better. I am going to try to be more realistic with my goals this month. Sorry, two of them are pretty much the same as last month, because until those goals happen (especially number 2!) they will be on my to-do list:

One. Lose 5 pounds. That is a more attainable goal than 10 pounds, and I think this November I can do it, especially since Thanksgiving isn't until the end of the month. I know I know, I should have more self-control, and I want to work on that, but it is really hard to lose weight when you can only eat carb-filled blandish foods because you have stomach issues.

Two. Get a job. This one no longer needs any explanation.

Three. Do 4 weeks of C25K. I can do this and I will do this. I really want to run a 5K, then eventually a 10K, and no time like the present to start, right?! Except that it's freezing out but that gives me an excuse to buy cute running clothes! Let's hope my stomach cooperates!

Four. Do most of my Christmas shopping. I do this early every year and it feels so good to get it all done and out of the way before the crazy Christmas rush. The only problem is I still want to buy stuff closer to Christmas that I see when I inevitably go out shopping again, but who cares? Giving is one of the best parts of the season (see also: cookies, Christmas trees, snow, Ralphie, dogs in sweaters/reindeer antlers, Home Alone, lights, etc. etc.)

What are your goals for November? Linking up with EricaStephanie and Whitney! Have a great weekend!

  5. Okay, amen to the stomach/bland food thing. I can't eat anything that I really want, so I just turn to something with a lot of bread usually...like Jimmy John's or noodles or something. It's a curse.

Crossing my fingers that you have job luck this month!

  7. I'm right there with you on the weight loss. I need to get back to work.

1 out of 3 is not bad! Especially since finding a job is not 100% in your control. You'll get there!

  9. I need to lose about 20 pounds.
Then again, I also feel the need to swim through a full pint of Talenti gelato like nobody's business. So. I guess you can probably see my issue here.
I'm going to try hopping on the C25K train with you.. I've still yet to make it passed week one. Oops.

  11. Christmas shopping ugh, we have a love/hate relationship. As in I love to shop I hate to fight the crowds.

I think now is the perfect time to run, not to hot not to cold. You can do it!

  13. Good luck in November! Getting a real lawyer job is tough, I hate job hunting. I've got a job but I am looking for a new one, resumes and cover letters are honestly the worst.

  16. I love cleaning out my closet---I probably do it at least 4 times a year. It just is so GREAT to pare down and minimalize---I'm all about simplifying, so tackling the closet regularly is a must.

Great blog post! And good luck with the rest of your goals :)

  17. I want to get my Christmas shopping done this month too! And I need to clean out my closets/drawers. I am getting married in March and will be moving into a little apartment with my fiance, and I'm afraid that unless I get rid of some of my clothes, we will have no room for furniture! :)

  19. Don't worry about not actually achieving the goal yet as long as you're still working on them that's awesome! I'm working hard on my weight loss goal and I've read that a good weight loss every week is actually only .5-1 lb.
