Dog Etiquette // Giveaway Winner!!

So unless you've been living under a rock, you know I have two mini dachshund brothers named Hansel and Schnitzel. They snuggle all the time, wrestle/chase each other around the house, and are usually the best of friends. They have some serious rules though when it comes to chewing on their bones.

We have two of their favorite bones so they can each have one and chew on them whenever they want. Welp, it doesn't matter, because the dog rules in this house do not allow for chewing of bones at the same time.

Nope, no matter what, our dogs will not chew on bones at the same time. One will literally lay right next to the other, or even across the room, while he is chewing his bone, and look on longingly and wistfully. Don't even bother try handing the boneless one the unused bone, he won't accept it, he must wait until his brother is finished with the other bone, then he can have that one. It is hilarious. Here's an example:

Schnitzel chewing on his bone.

Hansel watching Schnitzel from 5 feet away, with the SAME EXACT BONE literally touching his foot, but he won't chew on it, no way, not while Schnitzel is chewing his bone, it would be rude!

Here's another picture (sorry for the awful quality, the light shining in around the door does not make for good picture taking!). Note there are TWO other bones Hansel could be chewing on, but he is watching Schnitzel chew the third bone! It's just so strange!

Dogs can be so weird!! haha Do your dogs have any weird habits?

P.S. The winner of my LUSH DIY Spa Day giveaway is Amanda from Cats, Cuddling, & Carrot Cake! Congrats! I sent you an email already :-)

  1. That is TOO cute!!! I wonder why animals do the things they do? My cats will not play with the same toy when I am trying to play with both of them...one goes, and then the other, I guess so they can have it all to themselves, however with your dogs thats silly because they have their OWN bones and they aren't sharing them!

  2. That is so funny! My dog will try to steal the other's dog toy whenever she decides to play with one. But, occasionally they will both occupy themselves with their own toy.

Also, I totally wrote about pets today too, we were on the same brain wavelength! haha

  3. Haha, this is awesome! Walter would just try and hoard all the bones and only chew on one of them while not allowing the other dog to even get close!

  4. My dogs are weirdos too! Gracie (my bigger older dog) always let's Mac (a 7lb fluff ball) walk all over her. Steal her toys, steal her blankets, steal her bed, etc. She will not tolerate him stealing her food though! Oh no! Home girl likes to eat!

  5. Hahah too cute. My dog is scared of stairs but it's my fault. I was twelve and she fell down the stairs so i started sobbing. She was fine but I scarred her for life. She won't do stairs now. It's probably good bc she can't get her paws/teeth into anything upstairs in the house (at my mom's).

  10. OMG this is the cutest thing I have ever heard!!! Dogs are such silly creatures. My dogs do this weird thing where they chew in separate rooms and then will randomly get up and trade bones. Maybe their logic is: "hey, is your bone better than mine? Let's trade and see!"

  11. haha love this! we have two of the same bones for our dogs too. they're usually fine with easy chewing one. but every once in awhile, rosie will just stare at bowie and then suddenly pounce and steal the bone that he had, even though she could've taken the other one. such weirdos ha.
