Kenny Angel

I love Christmas (okay, but seriously, who doesn't? No really, I want to know..) and obviously as a kid I am sure I loved it even more. I remember seeing my older cousins get clothes for Christmas and being like "eww, they are losers, I will NEVER want clothes, I will ALWAYS want toys."Oh how things change.

On Christmas morning we weren't allowed to wake anyone else up until 7am, so my brother and sisters and I would sneak around to each others rooms at like 5am to see who was awake, then we would play board games really quietly in our rooms so our parents wouldn't know. Finally at 7 we'd rush into our parents' room and my Dad would take like 15 minutes getting the video camera together so he could tape us coming down the steps.

You can't really tell, but I was rocking some sweet velvet overalls in this pic.. Thanks Mom

We'd finally get downstairs and my Mom would only let us open our stockings; no presents til Grandmom and Pop Pop got there. I remember being shocked at this news each year, even though they made us wait EVERY year. It seemed like an eternity, but they were always there faithfully by 7:30.

I'm the normal one.. okay maybe not with those monkey PJs

I won't go into all of our Christmas day rituals, but I will tell one funny story that has turned into an embarrassing tradition . My grandparents gave us a really nice angel to put on top of the tree. Well it lasted a few years, but then one year we were about to decorate the tree and my parents found my younger sister Savanna (she was about 7 at the time) frantically gluing something down the basement. Apparently she broke the angel's porcelain head off and it shattered, so she decided to glue in a replacement head. Blogland, meet 'Kenny Angel':

Nope, your vision is not failing you, that actually IS a Barbie doll "Ken" head wearing a baseball hat attached to an angel's body. And yes, it sits on top of my parents' Christmas tree every year. Cool. Linking up with Helene and Taylor!

  11. Oh mu goodness. The Ken head pn the angel is priceless. That is one smart 7 year old to even try to repair that.

And I had almost the same discussion with my older cousins when they all got clothes and I still wanted toys. I really thought nothing could ever be better than toys. Ha. How things change.

  12. Ahhhhhh I love Kenny Angel! Freaking hilarious!!!

My sister and I would sneak around with each other in the early morning hours too waiting for an acceptable time to wake my parents! And my dad always took forever with the camera to take our picture too!!! This must be a thing that parents get together and decide to do!

  13. Bahahahah... that angel... that's classic! Our parents wouldn't let us wake everyone up until later either so me and my sister would sneak into each other's rooms and open our stockings together then put everyone's gifts into little piles. :)

We would usually wake up around 5 am when we were super little. My mom still swears that she always beat us up on Christmas morning but I call BS. haha
