Nowadays Secret Santa runs pretty smoothly between the siblings; we draw names Thanksgiving weekend and exchange our gifts Christmas Eve like clockwork. But back in the day, the year we first started this tradition, things were not so great.
Well, I guess for the other kids things were awesome, but not for me. I was all excited because I drew Taylor's name (an easy one, since she was only 3 years old). When it was my turn to give Taylor her gift, I gave her these cute little Care Bear slippers and waited anxiously for my Secret Santa to give me my present. 8 year old Savanna hands me my gift, and I rip it open excitedly. I pull out... a roll of toilet paper, smeared with chocolate (get it?.. yea).
Savanna and the other kids start giggling, thinking this is the funniest thing ever. I was not amused, whined, "Mooooooom!" then Savanna says "Just kidding!" and hands me another box with my real present. I open it with relief.. until I pull out a bag of Lifesavers Wintergreen Mints.
Yup. Lifesavers mints. Thanks a lot, Savanna. Secret Santa is now regulated by Mom, so no
Ha ha ha...well that's probably your most memorable Christmas gift at least! Ha ha.
ReplyDeleteToo much little reindeer dachshund cuteness!
lol i would be SO MAD. isn't that terrible!!! hope you get a good one this year ;)
ReplyDeleteWe don't typically exchange gifts between the siblings anymore because there are too many of us and then there are kiddos now so we just buy for the kiddos.
ReplyDeleteHahahaha you guys are way to funny, your mom and dad must have had their hands full all year not just Christmas!!
ReplyDeleteHaha the stories you have about you & your siblings just validate why I want a big family.
ReplyDeletehaha I know it's all about joy and family and stuff but I would be pretty irritated to get a crappy present like that! lol We use to do secret santa too because there is so many of us but then everyone would get presents for each other anyway. So we were like screw it! It's a great idea though because I'd love to give EVERYONE something awesome but I also have bills!
ReplyDeletePuppies in reindeer hats!!
ReplyDeleteAnd haha, your family is very funny. I missed out by not having siblings :-/

Bahahahah... toilet paper smeared with chocolate... even as an adult I find that funny. What does that say about me?! hahaha ;P
ReplyDeleteOh man, I would have been mad, too! haha...siblings...
ReplyDeleteHaha! That sounds like something my brother and I would scheme about for our other siblings. I hope this year you don't get toilet paper. :)
ReplyDeleteThe extra effort to smear chocolate on the TP makes it super memorable. And umm, at least the mints were useful? I hope you got better gifts this year!
